As of last month, the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft has been renamed the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), which houses the Department of Industrial Property in charge of patents and industrial designs in Cambodia.
The Law on the Establishment of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation was adopted on 13 March 2020 and signed by Cambodia King Norodom Seihamony on 26 March 2020. The new Ministry will manage industry, science, technology and innovation sectors including handicraft and clean water in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The organization and functioning of the new Ministry will determined in a forthcoming Sub-Decree. The laws and regulations in relation to the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft will continue to be effective until they are replaced by new laws and regulations. All the letters and application forms for patent, utility model certificates and industrial design shall be address to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation for now as the Law on the Establishment of the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft was abrogated.
